One of Japan’s greatest IT firms is increasing its position in the Hyperledger blockchain venture.

NEC Corporation, the Linux Foundation-backed initiative introduced at the moment, has grow to be a premier member of the group. Daichi Iwata, who leads the NEC’s fintech enterprise growth workplace, can be becoming a member of Hyperledger’s governing board.

NEC was amongst a gaggle of firms to join the Hyperledger venture in early 2016, simply weeks after the hassle first started. Hyperledger formally launched in December 2015, backed by companies together with IBM, JPMorgan and the London Stock Exchange, and has since grown to incorporate greater than 100 startups and established firms amongst its ranks.

In statements, the agency indicated that its expanded work with Hyperledger would construct on its previous efforts targeted across the tech.

“We believe blockchain is a transformative technology and are committed to advancing its adoption by contributing our expertise and knowledge to the Hyperledger community,” Osamu Fujikawa, who heads NEC’s enterprise innovation unit, mentioned in a press release.

In addition to its work with Hyperledger, NEC has performed a job in blockchain growth inside Japan’s finance area. Last October, Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank introduced that it was exploring ideas round commerce finance and asset custody, working with NEC and IBM’s Japanese arm to check prototypes.
